    We collaborated with esteemed academics from the University of Oxford in the UK and the University of Chicago to analyze these results, and we’re stoked — this is a big deal for us! 

    We’re thrilled to announce our first peer-reviewed paper in Obesity Science and Practice. Like the camaraderie of friends cooking together, teamwork and collaboration made this milestone possible.

    We just had our first peer-reviewed paper published in Obesity Science and Practice

    For anyone who doesn’t know how academic publishing works, it’s a hard thing to do. The work is scrutinized critically and carefully by several expert reviewers who focus on making sure the methodology is robust, and the findings are valid. The paper goes through lots — lotttttttts — of revisions. Many papers that are submitted don’t make it through. 

    But what does this mean for YOU? 

    The data we analyzed shows that if you want to lose weight, the Simple app can help you get significant results.

    Here are the headlines: 

    • The Simple app effectively helps people lose weight and keep it off. 
    • The more people use the Simple app, the more weight they lose.
    • The Simple app helped many users achieve a clinically significant weight loss of ≥5%. Losing ≥5% body weight is clinically significant because of its positive effects on overall health, like reducing the risk of type 2 diabetes, lowering cholesterol levels, etc.[1]
    • The first 6 months of using the Simple app are critical for maximizing weight loss outcomes.
    • The Simple app helps people achieve sustainable weight loss — results remain strong even at 52 weeks. 

    And in plain English, the message is simply this: 

    Using Simple to achieve lasting weight loss works. And the more you use it, the better it works. In fact, our results are comparable to some of the most established players in the weight loss market! 

    One final note here: This data is from 2021 to 2023, before we launched Avo or Nutrition Scores. So it’s likely that the results now are already better than they were then.  We hope to evidence this through future analyses, but we know from user feedback that both Avo and Nutrition Scores are working their magic on users’ weight loss results.

    This is just the start. We hope that this will be the first of many papers that showcase the credibility and integrity of the work we do as a science-led app.
